Description
Modern welding technologies and the advantages of miniature electronics allow the production of a piezoresistive micro-sensor whose characteristics were an unattainable dream 10 years ago.
The electronics are based on the "PromComp" technology, patented by KELLER 20 years ago and then used only for laboratory purposes, as the only one capable of measuring pressure in the range of 0...100 °C with an accuracy of 0.1% FSO. At that time, the electronics unit in the sensor was the size of a pack of cigarettes; nowadays, everything can fit on a 12 mm diameter printed circuit board.
The temperature sensor is divided into sections of 1.5 Kelvin (K) each. The TK-zero and TK-compensation values are calculated and programmed for each section of the circuit. After this operation, the temperature-compensated values ensure the linearity of the output signal. Thus, the accuracy of the transducer becomes less dependent on temperature changes. Up to 120 sections can be used for compensation over a range of 180 K. The larger the temperature range, the greater the number of tests required to minimize the error of this mathematical model.
