Application object: Mining and processing plant.
During processing, the ore sequentially undergoes crushing, screening, classification, and primary enrichment stages to obtain concentrate and production waste. After dewatering, the finished concentrate is directed to storage bunkers, from where it is subsequently sent for processing or shipment to the consumer.
Task
The existing system for controlling the material level in the bunker is based on the use of radioisotope sensors. Their use creates potential health risks for maintenance personnel and requires strict radiation safety regulations. It was necessary to find an alternative measurement method that excludes the use of ionizing radiation sources. The key challenge was to ensure reliable control of the coal concentrate level with a fraction size up to 300 mm under conditions of high dustiness inside the bunker.
Applied solution

For continuous and accurate level control, a modern radar level meter IZMERKON RL 36 was chosen. This device is an intelligent 4-wire non-contact sensor specially designed to operate in challenging industrial conditions.
The radar measurement principle ensures high reliability and is not affected by factors such as dust density, temperature, or pressure inside the bunker. High noise immunity and concentration of the measurement signal allow accurate measurements even under heavy dust and intense vapor conditions. The IZMERKON RL 36 level meter easily integrates into the existing ACS TP system, providing precise data on bunker fill levels.
Achieved result
The implementation of the IZMERKON RL 36 radar level meter completely solved the task of safe and efficient control of the mining mass level. The new solution has the following key advantages:
- Complete safety for personnel and the environment due to the absence of radioactive sources.
- High accuracy and stability of measurements under heavy dust conditions.
- Reliable operation with materials having low reflectivity.
- Minimal maintenance requirements compared to radioisotope systems.
- Simplified operation due to the absence of complex setup and licensing procedures related to radiation sources.
