Application of SS 20.260 Sensors in the Reconstruction Project of the "GES-2" Building: Technical Overview

Introduction

As part of the large-scale reconstruction of the cultural center «GES-2», carried out to improve the energy efficiency and environmental friendliness of the facility, the integration of modern air flow and velocity measurement sensors was implemented. The main technical solution was the use of ventilation flow sensors SS 20.260, which enabled a high level of automation and control of the complex's ventilation system.

General project information

The modernization of the «GES-2» facility involved the integration of innovative engineering systems that meet modern standards of energy efficiency and environmental safety. Within the design solutions developed by the Italian architectural bureau «Renzo Piano Building Workshop», special attention was paid to reducing energy consumption and optimizing the ventilation system.

In 2019-2020, the company LLC «IZMERKON» supplied more than eighty SS 20.260 air flow and velocity sensors. These sensors became key components of the building's ventilation system, providing precise control and management of air flows.

Technical specifications and operation of SS 20.260 sensors

The SS 20.260 sensors are high-precision devices designed for stable measurement of air flow and velocity over a wide range. Their operating principle is based on the thermal mass measurement method, which ensures stable operation under challenging conditions.

The sensors are compact and have a housing resistant to mechanical and temperature effects, making them suitable for installation in building ventilation and climate control systems. Thanks to the ability to connect to automation systems, parameters obtained from the sensors are transmitted to a central controller for analysis and adjustment.

Role of sensors in the «GES-2» ventilation system

Within the reconstruction project, the SS 20.260 sensors provide precise measurements of ventilation air flow and velocity. Monitoring the volume of air entering the premises helps maintain the necessary environmental and microclimatic parameters inside the building.

Ensuring automatic regulation: measured values obtained from the sensors are used for automatic optimization of the ventilation system operation, which contributes to reducing energy consumption and maintaining comfortable indoor conditions.

Environmental compliance control: timely detection of deviations from the norm helps promptly respond to possible emergency situations or violations in the air purification and distribution system.

System integration and implementation features

The sensors were installed at key points of the ventilation system — along the perimeter of air ducts, at inlet and outlet lines, as well as in zones with the most critical operating conditions. The entire system is connected to a control center equipped with software for monitoring and data analysis.

A distinctive feature of the implementation was the use of energy consumption minimization algorithms. Combining sensor data with automation systems allows not only stable supply of the required amount of air but also significantly reduces electricity costs through precise tuning and automatic adaptation.

Conclusion

The use of SS 20.260 sensors in the «GES-2» reconstruction project became one of the key factors in achieving goals for improving the building's energy efficiency and ensuring high indoor air quality. The use of modern air flow and velocity measurement technologies enables the implementation of intelligent ventilation systems capable of adapting to changing conditions and minimizing operational costs.

This experience confirms the relevance of integrating such sensors into comprehensive engineering systems of modern buildings, ensuring sustainable development and environmental safety of urban infrastructure.
