A simple way to reduce compressed air costs

Compressed air is an air energy carrier, existing under excess pressure. Modern enterprises and productions in various fields use compressed air systems in their operations. The quality and reliability of the system affect the quality of the produced product, equipment wear, and company expenses. One common problem of pneumatic systems is various compressed air leaks. In an average enterprise using compressed air, leaks account for about 10-25%. In Russia, 1 cubic meter of compressed air costs about 70 kopecks. Thus, even a small leak of 16 l/min can cost 5886 rubles per year. But, as we noted above, it is unlikely that there is a single enterprise worldwide with only one leak in the system, and considering the power of industrial compressors, which can reach 100,000 l/min, 10-25% leaks become a serious problem. Timely detection and elimination of leaks allow significant optimization of any enterprise's compressed air expenses.

The optimal solution for leak detection is the use of special devices - ultrasonic leak detectors. Until now, leak detectors were mainly used to detect the fact of a leak; the ability to determine the leak rate in l/min was conditional and inaccurate for most devices. With the new affordable LD 500 leak detector from CS Instruments, information about the leak rate in l/min is available in real time directly on the device screen. Based on this data, the device calculates the annual cost of the detected leak (the displayed currency is easily adjustable). This functionality allows immediate decisions on which leaks should be fixed first and which can be postponed.

The built-in camera in the device allows instant photo capture of leak locations and saves them along with all necessary information: leak rate in l/min, annual leak cost in rubles (or any other currency), company name, department name, location name, date, and time.

Data can be easily exported to a USB flash drive for subsequent processing in the optionally available "CS Leak Reporter" software. This software allows automatic generation of PDF reports based on the data collected by the leak detector. Reports can be created for the entire company or for each department. At the end of each report, based on accumulated data, information about the total leak rate in l/min and the total annual leak cost is generated.

The LD 500 leak detector is supplied in a reliable carrying case with all necessary accessories. The package includes useful accessories such as a pointed focusing tube for detecting the smallest leaks in narrow places and an acoustic tube to amplify sound waves of tiny leaks (can be used at distances up to 6 meters). Optionally, the package can include a parabolic mirror for detecting leaks at distances up to 20 meters or a flexible "gooseneck" adapter for detecting leaks in hard-to-reach places.
