The topic of energy saving is becoming more and more relevant in our lives. This issue is especially acute for industrial enterprises, as it indirectly affects the cost of manufactured products.
The most general indicator requiring control is electricity. However, monitoring only this parameter does not provide a clear picture of the distribution of energy resources and does not give clear feedback in case of modernization and optimization.
A much more detailed picture is provided by monitoring all technological media: water, steam, natural gas, compressed air, process gases (nitrogen, oxygen, CO2, argon, and other gases and their mixtures), ventilation air.
Automatic continuous monitoring and recording of current indicators (instantaneous flow, accumulated flow meter) for each medium allows to:
- identify problem areas with increased consumption;
- carry out optimizations and analyze their effectiveness;
- analyze pipelines for flow overload;
- detect leaks, assess their volume and related costs;
Such a monitoring and data recording task can be solved by special industrial dataloggers (DS 500, DS 400). These data recorders have a large memory capacity of up to 100 million measurements and the ability to connect a large number of various measuring instruments (for example VA 500 and VA 520) via various protocols (including using analog signals via 4-20 mA current and voltage).
Combining all technological media metering units into a single network becomes possible thanks to industrial interfaces such as ModBus, Profibus, and Ethernet, as well as Software (CS Soft Basic, CS Soft Network). This software is a SCADA system specially developed for accounting technological media at industrial enterprises.
